The Consequences
I have already hinted at some of the consequences. That succour is given to the hatred espoused in the Koran; that the Islamic world perceives the delusion and appeasement in Western democracies as a sign that Allah is working to establish an Islamic world and thwarting the "plots" against that plan; more and more of what I shall term 'nominal Muslims' will become more 'dedicated Muslims' seeing Islam's 'immunity' and special status; and more and more westerners will sign up to Islam with a blind dedication because it is the one religion which is not questioned, never mind ridiculed.
Islam's appeal is its absolutism. It is black and white. It also identifies clearly the hate figures, Jews and Christians, but is endorsed, without reservation, by every single Western 'leader' as a great religion. It is accorded a stature far above Judaism, Christianity, or any other religion. So its adherents can indulge in hatred with the blessing of all.
But Islam demands absolute adherence to the proclamations of its Spiritual Leaders. If they call for sacrifice in the cause of Islam it must be provided. Western Jihadists are found in Chechnya, Afghanistan, Israel, America, Europe, India and every theatre where the "cause" is being "fought".
Therefore, to any half thoughtful person, it must stand to reason that the Islam I have described, the real Islam, is well entrenched in every country of consequence in the maintenance of international stability and civilisation. Yet, not only do we delude ourselves as to what is happening, we provide this 'gathering for the cause' a special immunity.
So the war, and war it will eventually be if we do not change course, will be different from any we have seen before, and many times more destructive of civilisation. Nuclear weapons are already within reach of Islam in Pakistan. Very soon those who espouse 'true Islam' will have them. Possibly also from other sources. Chemical and biological weapons are already in the hands of states that sponsor terror. Western type democracies are extremely fragile in their infrastructure, and totally reliant on it, especially on information technology.
If we do not act fast and decisively, such weapons will be unleashed on Western countries, probably several simultaneously. People will flee cities leaving them abandoned to anarchy. Infrastructure will collapse. 'Faction' fighting will ensue between Muslims and non-Muslims, and indeed between many different groups, races and religions. Governments will rule at the point of a gun. In short, civilisation as we know it will cease to be. Lebanon in the 1980's was a micro glimpse of how the world may end up.
We hear hints of these consequences from many of the political 'elite'. Warnings of the threat to civilisation as we know it.
If we were simply dealing with a band of "thugs and assassins", I doubt that anyone would perceive such a threat.
So is there a solution?
